DESCRIPTION:Gather around the campfire and join us this weekend for a wonderful experience. Whether you are an absolute beginner or more experienced\, you are all very welcome here at basecamp. Our experience begins on Friday evening. After a welcome brief\, we will show you how to prepare and cook ‘Forest fish and chips’ – Rainbow trout cooked on the fire\, using the Canadian Fish flag method.  \nThroughout the weekend you will develop your Bush crafting skills\, learning how to become more self-sufficient in the wild. We will show you how to prepare and cook rabbit and feathered game too. We spend both nights sleeping under the stars. A Bushcraft tarp or tent can be provided\, alternatively you can bring your own. Instructor’s will be on hand to guide you throughout the weekend.  \n  \nYour host instructors will cover   a variety of Bushcraft skills\, including the following workshops; \n\nPrimitive fire making \nCampfire Baking\nWilderness cookery\, Including the preparation of fish and Game\nShelter making\nCamp crafting and much more. \n\n  \nAll of your meals are included in the price. DESCRIPTION:Our weekend begins on Friday evening. After a welcome brief\, we will head into the woodland and locate Bushcraft basecamp\, keeping a good lookout for our resident deer who frequently wander by.  For the first night\, you will sleep under a Bushcraft tarp\, a wonderful experience\, and a great opportunity to tune in to your surroundings. Tonight’s meal will be ‘forest fish and chips. Rainbow trout prepared and cooked using a traditional Canadian method. The rest of the evening will be spent around the campfire\, discussing the various uses for each piece of equipment we are carrying.  \n  \n” The more knowledge you carry\, the less equipment you’ll need” \n  \nSaturday morning begins with an introduction to campfire baking. This morning we will bake delicious bread\, served with a variety of jams and spreads. We also include an introduction to water purification and safety. After breakfast\, it’s time for primitive shelter building. You will make your own shelter using only natural materials found in the woodland. In this scenario\, we will include knife and Axe skills too. We encourage everyone to sleep out in their newly built shelters\, living the way we humans once did is a truly unforgettable experience.  \n  \n” Mother nature provides everything we need to survive and thrive\, we just need to know where to look” \n  \nTime for lunch. On the menu is rabbit casserole *(Vegetarian options are available\, please advise at the time of booking). Each participant will be shown how to prepare their lunch. After lunch\, we will head off further into the woodland for a sit\, spot\, and tracking session. This gives us the opportunity to identify the different calls\, sounds\, and behaviors of various animals. The rest of the afternoon will be spent learning and practicing various primitive fire lighting methods\, including the fire bow methods. Tonight’s meal will be a feathered game sourced from the Yorkshire Dales and served with local seasonal vegetables. Our evening will be spent relaxing around the campfire including a Q & A with your instructors.  \n  \nSunday morning begins with a final go at fire-making. Only this morning\, it will be for real. Once you have harnessed the ember and made fire a hearty breakfast of farmhouse porridge will be served with a variety of toppings. It’s then time to pack up and head back to our RV point.  \n  \nYou may arrive as strangers\, but you will leave as friends. Our experience is open to 18 years plus. You will not be expected to do anything you don’t want to. Vegetarian options can be catered for.  \n  \n** Please note. Our base camp is primitive\, offering that true connection to nature. We have a compost toilet and a tree-hung solar shower is also provided. Our dedicated team covers field hygiene in our welcome brief.

You’re welcome to bring your own tent to use too. \n  \nOur weekend begins on Friday evening. After a welcome brief\, we will head into the woodland and locate bushcraft basecamp\, keeping a good lookout for our resident deers who roam our woodland.  For the first night\, you will sleep under a bushcraft tarp\, a truly\, wonderful experience\, and a great opportunity to tune in to your surroundings. From the start\, we will teach you how to camp sympathetically\, with minimal impact on your environment and wildlife. Leaving only footprints\, and taking away just your memories. Tonight’s meal will be  ‘Forest fish and chips. (Vegetarian options are available) – Rainbow trout prepared and cooked using a traditional CanadianFish flag method. Identifying safe drinking water sources and practicing a variety of purifying methods.  For the remainder of the day\, you will be building your very own primitive shelter\, under the guidance of our expert instructors. . You will make your own shelter using only natural materials found in the woodland. In this scenario\, we will include knife and Axe skills too. SUMMARY:Focus on Firelighting Course (age 12+)
DESCRIPTION:Our Focus on Firelighting courses give you the opportunity to have time dedicated to learning the skill of firelighting in the wild. We will meet in our woodland and after introductions we will discuss the history of fire and how it has enhanced our species before having a go at building our own firepits and trying out several different methods of firelighting. We will cook lunch together over the group fire\, learning how to use the flames to cook our own fish (please inform us of an dietary requirements upon booking).  Over the course of the day we will cover the following: \nFire safety  \nThe science of fire – what do we need to start a fire and why \nNatural tinders – using materials native to the woodland we will discover which plants can be useful in providing us with natural tinders to start fires when out in different environments. \nFire lays and fire pits – a crucial part of firelighting in the wild – learn how to create a good firepit in windy conditions and how to build an effective firelay for a roaring flame.  \nFire by friction – using the primitive Fire Bow (or bow drill) we will discover how friction can be used to make fire. This is a difficult skill to acquire\, which demands patience and teamwork\, but under the careful guidance of our staff you will soon be transfixed on the task of making your fire.  \nFire strikers  – using ferrocerium rods to create your ignition\, we will learn which plants in the woods can be used to light fires in all conditions. \nSolar firelighting – if weather conditions allow we will practice using the energy from the sun to create a flame. \nTime dependent we may also have the opportunity to demonstrate to you other methods of firelighting. \nThis will be an interactive and informative day for all who want time to explore firelighting in detail and is likely to book up fast.

DESCRIPTION:Come and join our experienced team in the woods to learn primitive and survival skills. We have a variety of days available from our Introduction to Bushcraft days\, where you will cover a variety of skills over the day\, or look at our other events for more depth on specific bushcraft skills.\n\n\n \n\n\n \n\n\nWe will gather back together around the campfire to prepare and eat the evening meal together as a group (all food provided) – this can vary from game preparation to woodland curry and fire-baked naan bread. On clear evenings we will have the chance to discuss how the stars were used to help our ancestors navigate and identify key constellations in the night sky. Hot chocolate and toasted marshmallows finish off the evening before we retire to our beds for the night. Those brave enough have the option to sleep out your shelter made earlier in the day\, or bring your own tent or upgrade to stay in our group bell-tent. \n\n\n \n\n\n\nIn the morning you will be able to enjoy the peace of the woodland far from all your cares\, while our instructors prepare you a delicious breakfast of bacon and egg sandwiches before we pack up our kit and say our farewells.

On this day\, you may arrive as strangers\, but you will leave as friends. Bring a camera along and record your epic adventure.  \nThroughout the day we will teach a variety of Bushcraft skills; \n\nFire making. Primitive skills\nShelter making – Primitive and advanced\nEstablishing a camp with conservation and preservation in mind. \nCampfire cooking\n\nLunch and hot drinks are included.* Vegetarians can be catered for.

DESCRIPTION:Join us for our NEW family campfire experience. \nOn this evening you will be invited to join us around the campfire for a unique experience. Dining under the starlit sky in the middle of our woodland\, surrounded by fairy lights\, you and your loved ones will be treated to a two course dinner cooked on our campfire. Learn how to prepare and cook fish over the flames as our in house expert guides you through the process\, before sitting down at our candlelit table to enjoy your meal. \nThis will be a relaxed evening\, with plenty of time to get to know your fellow diners and enjoy your surroundings.  \nExample menu: \nFire roasted spatchcock chicken\nPonassed salmon cooked over the flames\nRoast vegetables \nCampfire churros with chocolate dipping sauce \nHot chocolate and marshmallows \nPlease let us know when you book if you have any dietary requirements or allergies that need to be considered in our menu planning and preparation.  \nThings to bring \nWater will be provided\, however\, please feel free to bring your own beverages to accompany your meal. \nA torch will be essential for making your way to and from the dining area and toilet facilities. Our staff will meet you at the carpark entrance.\nThe woodland can be very muddy at this time of year – please ensure you have appropriate footwear and clothing.  \nPlease note: resources and facilities in the woodland are limited. We embrace a more primitive lifestyle during our time in the woodland. Toilet and handwashing facilities are provided\, but please be aware they are of a ‘rustic’ nature. Our car park can get boggy at times – we try our best to avoid having to cancel events due to this\, so please be aware you may be asked to find an appropriate parking space on the lanes nearby and walk a short distance to the woodland.

DESCRIPTION:Come and join us in the woodlands this Winter Solstice to celebrate the festive period in a unique and memorable way.\nOpen to all ages (under 3’s are free)\, we will gather in our woodland near Harrogate and light a fire to keep warm and enjoy the amazing atmosphere of the longest night\, gazing at the stars\, while drinking mulled wine and hot chocolate. Children will be able to take part in a festive-themed woodland craft inside our lamp-lit bell tent. \nThis promises to be a great evening\, with maybe a campfire carol or two\, and the chance to relax in a wonderful atmosphere with your family or friends and settle into the Christmas period. \nIncluded in your ticket: \nA mulled wine (or hot drink of your choice)\nCampfire mince pies\nCampfire songs \nFor the kids:\nHot chocolate\nMarshmallow toasting\nFestive craft with our instructors \nPlease note: the woodlands will be dark – please bring a torch and wrap up warm for the event.  \n
