Easter Weekend – Family Bushcraft camp

Come and join the team for an unforgettable Easter Weekend in the woods. Whether you are an experienced camper or this will be your first experience, let our team welcome you for a unique family experience.
Upon arrival on Friday night, you will have a chance to set up your camp and then gather around a roaring campfire to prepare a delicious meal on the flames for everyone to enjoy and learn some simple knife skills to prepare sticks to toast marshmallows and toffee apples for a delicious desert. If the night is clear we will have to opportunity to learn about the stars and how to use the night sky to navigate.
After a restful night’s sleep we will light the fire and prepare a warming breakfast together before a whole day of bushcraft activities with our team. These will include:
Firelighting – a chance to have a go at creating your own fires using both the primitive firebow, your family will work together as a team to master this ancient technique of creating fire. Following this you will compare and contrast how to make a fire using ferrocerium rods and learn which materials in the woodland can be used to help start a roaring fire.
Campfire cookery and baking – create your own damper bread and cook in the open flames as an accompaniment to your lunch, as well as learning how to prepare fish or game on the fire.
Woodland crafts – crafts will vary depending on the weekend, but examples include creating your own wooden door hangers, paracord bracelets and coasters.
Shelter building – a chance for your family to build your own primitive shelter. Feeling brave? You are welcome to sleep out in your shelters for you second night of camping for a truly wild experience.
Most activities are suitable for children from approximately age 4+, if you do plan to bring young children please get in touch as our itinerary can be adapted to suit their needs.
Included in your price is camping, two evening meals, a lunch, and two breakfasts, hot chocolate and marshmallows, and the unique knowledge of our instructors.
Please ensure you bring warm clothing and a suitable torch as the woods will be dark at night. A full kit list will be issued upon booking.
Please note: the woodland has no running water or shower facilities (a composting toilet is on site). This weekend is a chance to truly get back to nature and enjoy a simple way of life. In inclement weather we will erect shelters to enable to activities to continue in relatively dry conditions.
